Product information "African pearl salt | granulate | 1-3 mm"
What is it about / Product description
African pearl salt is a rare sea salt from the salt pans of Namibia, created by the natural evaporation of seawater. The small, almost spherical crystals are reminiscent of fine pearls and give the salt its characteristic name. With its clear white color and uniform granule size of 1–3 mm, it is ideal for sophisticated cuisine.
Thanks to gentle harvesting under sun and wind, the natural structure of the sea salt is preserved, resulting in high purity and a harmoniously mild salty taste. For this bulk product, Biova relies on carefully selected qualities that are suitable both for end consumers and for professional further processing. The granulated form ensures good dosing and an even distribution on dishes.
In the kitchen, African pearl salt is primarily appreciated as a finishing salt for salads, vegetables, fish and meat dishes. The decorative, pearl-like crystals create visual highlights and emphasize the natural flavor of the ingredients without overpowering them. Whether in gastronomy, in the delicatessen sector or for your own spice blends – with this Biova sea salt you get a versatile, visually appealing salt specialty.
Origin
The pearl salt comes from salt pans on the coast of Namibia, where cold ocean currents and intense sunlight create ideal conditions for high-quality sea salt. Due to the dry climate, the seawater can evaporate slowly and form uniform crystals. The remote location of the salt fields supports consistently high quality.
Cultivation / Production / Harvest
For production, seawater is channeled into shallow basins and concentrated exclusively by sun and wind. After crystallization, the pearl-shaped grains are harvested, washed, dried and then graded into granules with a grain size of 1–3 mm. No chemical additives or anti-caking agents are used, resulting in a natural sea salt.
Special features
Characteristic are the almost round, white crystals, which clearly differ from conventional coarse sea salts. Compared to classic table salt, the texture appears crunchier and more decorative. As bulk goods, this Biova product is particularly suitable for spice packers, delicatessen manufacturers and creative gastronomy.
Differences in origin and processing
In contrast to rock salt, which is obtained from underground deposits, this sea salt is created directly from seawater and thus retains its typical mild flavor profile. Sun-dried production in Namibia leads to a different crystal structure than industrially dried salts, which is noticeable in appearance and mouthfeel.
Taste & aroma
In terms of taste, African pearl salt is balanced, clear and pleasantly salty, without sharp or metallic notes. It has no dominant inherent odor and blends subtly into a wide variety of dishes. The crunchy structure of the granules provides a slight bite when used as a finishing salt.
