Crystal salt | granulate | 2-4 mm | dark pink

Product information "Crystal salt | granulate | 2-4 mm | dark pink"

What it is / Product description

This crystal salt from Pakistan is a natural rock salt with a characteristic dark pink color. The intense pink hue is created by naturally occurring iron oxide and gives the salt its typical appearance. With its mild saltiness, it is ideal as table salt for everyday use and fits perfectly into Biova’s premium range.

The coarse granules with a grain size of 2–4 mm are particularly versatile, for example in grinders or for salt crusts. As a rock salt, it is one of the most popular natural salts worldwide and is processed without chemical additives. Biova places great importance on gentle processing to preserve the original structure of the salt.

In the kitchen, this crystal salt supports clear, balanced seasoning of hearty and delicate dishes. The dark pink granules are suitable both for cooking and for decorative finishing directly at the table. This natural salt adds not only flavor but also visual highlights to your Biova spice and salt collection.

Origin

The crystal salt comes from the Salt Range in the Pakistani province of Punjab, around 200 kilometers southwest of the Himalayas. This region is one of the largest rock salt deposits in the world and is known for consistently high raw material quality. The dry climate and geological stability favor the extraction of a pure, natural rock salt.

Cultivation / Production / Harvest

As a rock salt, this natural salt is not cultivated but mined in large underground salt mines. The salt veins are extracted using traditional mining methods, then mechanically crushed and sieved to the desired grain size of 2–4 mm. No chemical refining or additives are used, resulting in an authentic natural product.

Special features

The dark pink color of the crystal salt is caused by the natural iron oxide content in the rock. The coarse granules are ideal for salt and spice mills as well as for applications where the salt should dissolve slowly. Compared to refined table salt, the crystalline structure remains largely intact, which makes it particularly interesting for lovers of natural salts.

Differences in origin and processing

In contrast to sea salt, which is obtained by evaporating seawater, this rock salt originates from prehistoric seas that have turned to stone over millions of years. The mining in the Salt Range and the subsequent gentle grinding distinguish it from highly refined industrial salts. This preserves the typical character of Pakistani crystal salt with its striking color and mild seasoning.

Taste & aroma

Sensory-wise, the crystal salt presents a pure, clear saltiness without intrusive off-flavors. The taste is often described as mild and rounded, so it does not overpower dishes but enhances them harmoniously. In terms of aroma, the salt is largely neutral, making it universally suitable for a wide variety of culinary styles.

Possible uses

  • As table salt for everyday cooking, seasoning and finishing directly at the table
