Petalos salt flakes | 0.1-8.0 mm | cold smoked

Our Petalos de Sal, in German ¨salt petals¨ come from a mountainous region of the Spanish province of Alicante, a good 40 km away from the Mediterranean Sea. Here, at a saline spring, there is an ancient salt works where the white gold has been extracted without interruption since the Middle Ages. The extraction is done in the traditional way, as it has been done for centuries, in pure manual labor with craftsmanship and with the help of the sun and the wind. The premium product of the ¨Saline la Fortuna¨ is created in a closed system and elaborate process - the crunchy and sought-after rock salt flakes. The salt flakes are then smoked by an experienced master smoker using traditional methods over several days with oak chips. The smoked Petalos convince with a pleasant smoky note and go especially well with vegan and vegetarian dishes, egg dishes or mushroom dishes.
