Product information "Organic Calabrese Chili I ground"
Calabria, the tip of Italy´s boots, is the southernmost region of the Italian mainland. The region is spoiled by the sun and, with around 320 sunny days, is one of the sunniest and hottest regions in Europe. Large parts of Calabria are mountain regions with a rich tree population, on the coasts you can find numerous palm, lemon, orange and eucalyptus trees. In the 16th century, adventurers and conquerors brought the first chilli varieties from the New World (America) to Calabria. The mild climate with lots of sunshine and warm ocean currents allow these new plant species to thrive and make the region the stronghold of the ¨Peperoncinis¨. From mid-August until the end of October, when the fruits have reached a beautiful red colour and full ripeness, the chillies are harvested and selected exclusively by hand and then gently dried. This medium-hot chilli variety harmonises wonderfully with sauces and soups, stews, meat dishes, pasta and all dishes with a hot note.
