The raw material for our palm sugar is the nectar of the Indonesian Arenga palm. The sugar juice is obtained from the inflorescences of the palm tree. The Arenga palm tree is appreciated for the high quality of its sugar juice and only grows in regions with a high diversity of plants and animals. The farmers, who have joined forces to form a cooperative, cultivate their own plantations in a region that once resembled a lunar landscape by slash-and-burn farming. They deliver the juice to a modern, ecologically sound factory where the juice is thickened. In a complex process, the sugar juice is processed into palm sugar. The special processing method and constant controls make our organic palm sugar a high quality product. Palm sugar has a slightly malty to caramel taste and is excellent for sweetening food and beverages.
