Product information "Tasmanian sea salt flakes | 0,1-5mm"
The extraction of sea salt has a long tradition in Tasmania. Already about 30 years after the settlement of Tasmania by the British in 1803, the production of sea salt began in the west of the island. Despite the innovative technology used at that time, the saltworks were not commercially successful and were closed only a few years after the plant was put into operation. It took until 2013 for sea salt to be recovered in Tasmania. Only a few kilometres away from the ruins of the old salt works, efficient and environmentally friendly methods of extracting sea salt flakes were introduced. The Tasman Sea is one of the cleanest and mineral-rich waters on our planet, and the Tasmanian salt flakes have a unique and mild taste. Flavour: mildly salty with a subtle tart and bitter flavour. Dishes: Fish & seafood, salads, pasta, light cuisine, steaks
