Product information "Sunflakes salt | 1,0-4,0 mm"
What is it about / Product description
These sun flakes are a fine fleur de sel from a traditional sea saltworks on the coast of Pakistan. The delicate, snow-white salt flakes are reminiscent of fine ice crystals and melt gently on the tongue. Their naturally mild taste makes them a special highlight for fine cuisine.
Thanks to gentle harvesting entirely by hand and drying under glass, a high-quality flake salt with a light, crispy structure is created. The sun flakes naturally contain minerals such as calcium and magnesium, which support their mild character. Biova relies on carefully selected bulk goods with consistent quality.
As a finishing salt, Sun Flakes Salt gives your dishes the final touch without overpowering them. Sprinkle the white flakes over your food just before serving to refine texture and flavour. This way you make optimal use of this special fleur de sel and consciously set accents in the kitchen with Biova.
Origin
The sun flakes come from Pakistan, where ideal climatic conditions with sun and wind prevail along the sea coast. In the shallow basins of the sea saltworks, the seawater can slowly evaporate and form high-quality salt flowers. This origin stands for a pure, natural sea salt with a clear, white colour.
Cultivation / Production / Harvest
In the saltworks, seawater is channelled into basins and concentrated exclusively by sun and wind. On hot, windy days, fine salt flowers form on the surface, resembling a thin layer of ice. These delicate crystals are skimmed off by hand with wooden scoops and then sun-dried under glass panes.
Special features
Drying under glass transforms the moist fleur de sel into stable, crispy salt flakes. The structure is reminiscent of well-known flake salts such as Murray River salt, but remains snow-white and particularly fine. As a granulated, coarse flake salt, it is easy to dose and ideal as a table salt.
Differences in origin and processing
Compared to industrially produced table salt, this flake salt is made without additives and without refining. The combination of the Pakistani coast, traditional handcraft and glass drying gives the sun flakes their characteristic shape. Biova attaches great importance to gentle processing in order to preserve the natural structure.
Taste & aroma
The sun flakes are characterised by a pleasantly mild, harmonious saltiness. Minerals such as calcium and magnesium ensure a soft, unobtrusive salinity. The flake salt is odourless and enhances the natural flavour of dishes instead of overpowering it.
