Salts have a long tradition in Hawaii, just like in many other cultures. For the Hawaiians, salt is an essential component in achieving inner balance. It supports the natural flow of life and symbolizes a deep connection with nature. The different Hawaiian salts with their distinctive colours reflect the colours of the country - black for the volcanic origins, red for the ever-present holy Alaea earth and for freedom, green for the lush vegetation and white for the water that surrounds the islands and the snow-capped mountain peaks. The red and black Hawaiian salt is a decorative salt. Our green Hawaiian salt is extracted from the Pacific coast off the island of Molokai. The salt crystals are mixed with mineral extracts. The green Hawaii salt is mixed with bamboo leaf extract and thus gets its typical green colour.
