African Pearl Salt from Namibia, coarse 2–7 mm

Product information "African Pearl Salt from Namibia, coarse 2–7 mm"

Product description

This African pearl salt is made from pure deep ocean water off the coast of Namibia. Under the intense sun it dries into evenly rounded, white salt pearls. The coarse 2–7 mm grain looks like tiny beads and makes this unrefined Biova sea salt a distinctive gourmet salt for kitchens, foodservice and spa applications.

Slow crystallisation creates a dense, hard structure that works perfectly in grinders and delivers a consistent grind. This coarse-grain sea salt is processed without additives and supplied in convenient bulk packs of approx. 1.05 kg per unit for professional users and further processors.

In the kitchen, African pearl salt enhances steaks, grilled dishes, fish, vegetables and salads with a clean, pure salt flavour. It is also ideal as a decorative table salt in grinders or as bath salt pearls for relaxing foot and full baths at home, in restaurants and in wellness areas.

Origin

This sea salt is harvested on the Namibian Atlantic coast on the edge of the Namib Desert, one of the oldest deserts in the world. Cold ocean currents, coastal fog and strong sunlight create a microclimate that favours the formation of salt pearls and ensures consistently high Biova quality.

Cultivation / Production / Harvest

Clean deep water from the South Atlantic is channelled into shallow evaporation ponds. Under the combined influence of sun, wind and gentle wave action, the sea salt slowly crystallises into the characteristic pearls. After natural drying, the pearls are selected, graded to a 2–7 mm grain size and filled as coarse-grain bulk salt.

Special features

Namib pearl salt is a rare natural form of sea salt with a round, hard structure and an even white colour. Unlike flaky sea salt or fine vacuum salt, the grain remains stable in the grinder, delivers a homogeneous grind and is therefore ideal for spice mills, decorative table salts and premium Biova spice blends.

Differences in origin and processing

Compared with sea salts from temperate zones, this African sea salt forms under the influence of cold deep currents and heavy fog along the Namibian coast. The combination of deep water, wind and sun creates an especially compact crystal structure, while largely manual, gentle processing clearly sets it apart from industrially refined table salt.

Taste & aroma

In sensory terms, African pearl salt offers a clear, pure salt taste without dominant off-notes. On the palate it is pleasantly robust, supports the natural flavour of ingredients and remains neutral in aroma, making it highly versatile in combination with herbs, spices and spice blends.

  • As a coarse sea salt in grinders for steaks, grilled dishes and fish
