Dark Pink fine crystal salt 0.2–1.0 mm from Pakistan

Product descriptionDiscover natural crystal salt from Pakistan with a fine, flaky grain size of 0.2–1.0 mm and an intense dark pink colour. This pink rock salt is a versatile table and cooking salt for home kitchens, foodservice and further processing. The consistent grain size allows precise dosing and ensures the salt dissolves quickly in liquids, doughs and spice blends. Biova supplies this Dark Pink rock salt in bulk, without chemical additives or anti-caking agents, so the original character of the salt is preserved. In everyday cooking, the fine crystal salt can be used flexibly for boiling, seasoning and finishing. It pairs well with vegetables, meat, fish, salads and delicatessen products and is ideal for spice manufacturers, caterers and food producers looking for a free-flowing, natural rock salt.OriginThe crystal salt comes from the Salt Range in Pakistan’s Punjab province, a traditional region for high-quality rock salts. Deep deposits, a dry climate and stable geological conditions ensure consistent crystal quality and the typical dark pink colour.Cultivation / Production / HarvestThe pink rock salt is mined underground in classic rock salt mines, where compact salt veins are mechanically extracted. After coarse crushing, the material is cleaned several times and milled to the fine 0.2–1.0 mm grain size before Biova packs it as bulk salt.Special featuresThe characteristic feature of this Dark Pink crystal salt is its reddish to dark pink colour, which is caused by naturally occurring iron oxide. It is an untreated, natural rock salt with no chemical additives or anti-caking agents and a fine, flaky structure for a wide range of uses in kitchens, foodservice and artisan production.Differences in origin and processingUnlike sea salt obtained from evaporated seawater, this rock salt originates from prehistoric inland seas that became trapped in the rock. The homogeneous crystal structure of the Pakistani deposits allows precise grading by grain size, enabling Biova to offer a pink edible salt that is easy to process for different applications.Taste & aromaThe crystal salt has a mild, clean saltiness without intrusive off-notes and supports the natural flavour of foods. It is neutral in smell and therefore also suitable for sensitive applications such as delicatessen products, spice blends or artisan foods.Possible usesAs an all-purpose cooking and table salt for seasoning and finishing hot and cold dishes. For spice blends, marinades, compound butters, salt crusts and delicatessen products in home kitchens, foodservice and at Biova partners. For filling salt shakers and as bulk rock salt for spice packers, food manufacturers and other processors.Product specificationCountry of origin: PakistanGrain size: 0.2–1.0 mm, fine / flakyColour: Dark Pink, pink rock salt

After being mined, the salt rocks are mechanically crushed, washed and graded to a coarse granule size of 2–4 mm without any chemical additives.Special featuresThe intense dark pink colour is caused by naturally occurring iron oxide in the rock. Thanks to its coarse, granulated structure, Biova crystal salt dissolves more slowly, making it ideal for mills, long cooking processes, salt crusts and use in bulk in spice blends.Differences in origin and processingUnlike sea salt from evaporated seawater, this is a fossil crystal salt from deep underground deposits. Traditional mining and purely mechanical processing clearly distinguish it from industrially refined table salt and preserve its mild flavour and decorative pink appearance.Taste & aromaIn sensory terms, this pink rock salt offers a clean, pure saltiness with a mild, well-balanced flavour. The coarse granules are perfect for salt and spice mills and allow flexible dosing during cooking and at the table.OriginThis sea salt is obtained from the Dead Sea in Jordan, a basin around 400 metres below sea level with a hot, dry climate and intense evaporation. The enclosed location and clear air support a permanently high salt concentration and consistent quality of Biova sea salts.Cultivation / production / harvestThe mineral-rich water of the Dead Sea is channelled into shallow evaporation ponds and concentrated solely by sunlight. After crystallisation, the salt crusts are harvested mechanically, washed, gently dried and then sieved into coarse granules of about 2–4 mm – without any chemical additives or anti-caking agents.Special featuresTypical characteristics of this sea salt are its coarse grain size, pure white colour and 100% natural quality. As a granulated, crushed salt it is particularly suitable for mills and allows individual dosing; the Biova bulk format with approx. 1.05 kg per unit is ideal for high-volume users and well-organised storage.Differences in origin and processingUnlike sea salts from open oceans, this salt forms in the enclosed basin of the Dead Sea with extremely high evaporation, which shapes its mineral composition. The largely mechanical, unrefined processing distinguishes it from industrial table salts and preserves the original character of sea salt from Jordan.Taste & aromaOn the palate, this Dead Sea salt is clearly and pleasantly salty with a clean, neutral flavour profile. It is odourless and supports the natural taste of dishes, while the coarse crystals dissolve evenly in liquids and prepared foods.Suggested usesFor filling salt and spice mills for everyday use in professional and home kitchensFor seasoning cooking water for pasta, vegetables, potatoes, pulses and grainsFor marinades, dry rubs and finishing grilled, fried or braised dishesProduct specificationCountry of origin: JordanGrain size: Granules, approx. 2–4 mm, granulated / coarseColour: White

Use the sea salt flakes as a decorative topping to highlight texture and flavour.OriginThese white salt flakes come from the Mediterranean island of Cyprus, with its sunny climate and clean seawater. These natural conditions are the basis for Biova’s consistently high-quality flake salts.Cultivation / production / harvestFor this flake salt, sea brine is drawn from an exceptionally pure stretch of coastline, carefully filtered and crystallised in shallow heated pans. The pyramid flakes that form on the surface are skimmed off by hand and gently dried to preserve their delicate structure.CharacteristicsTypical are the light, pyramid-shaped crystals, clearly different from compactly crystallised sea salt. The fine, flaky grain ensures even salt distribution and a pleasant crunch, and makes Biova’s white flake salt in bulk ideal for high-volume users.Differences in origin and processingUnlike classic sea salt from open salt pans, Mediterranean pyramid salt is deliberately crystallised in heated pans. This creates hollow pyramid structures instead of broken crystals, while predominantly manual handling preserves the decorative flake shape.Taste & aromaOn the palate, the flake salt is mildly salty with a clear, clean note. The temperate maritime climate and the tides create ideal conditions for producing high-quality sea salt flakes.Cultivation / production / harvestFor Maldon Sea Salt Flakes, seawater is channelled into shallow pans and slowly evaporated. Controlled evaporation forms the typical pyramid-shaped flakes, which are skimmed off by hand, gently dried and packed as coarse flake salt.Special featuresUnlike standard granulated table salt, this flake salt offers a pronounced, crunchy texture. Harvested under natural climatic conditions, it forms the stable base for this applewood smoked salt from Biova.Cultivation / Production / HarvestThe salt-rich raw material is gently extracted, cleaned and sieved to the fine grain size of 0.2–1.0 mm. The sea salt is then cold-smoked over applewood so that the aroma slowly and evenly penetrates the crystals.Special featuresIts key characteristics are the combination of a fine, free-flowing grain, a mild, fruity smoke profile and the warm brown and yellow tones typical of smoked salts. The practical bulk format is ideal for high-volume users, spice manufacturers and further processors.Differences in origin and processingUnlike smoked salts flavoured with liquid smoke or intense hot smoking, Biova relies on traditional cold smoking over applewood. This creates a softer, more nuanced aroma, while the fine grain size makes it suitable for more than just use as a finishing salt.Taste & aromaOn the palate it shows a balanced salty base with a mild, slightly fruity smoky note. Spanisches Steinsalz | fein | 0,3-0,5 mm | NaCl < 75%
Fine Spanish pink rock salt, reduced sodium

Product descriptionDiscover Spanish rock salt from the Catalan hinterland, finely milled to around 0.3–0.5 mm with a delicate pink hue. This natural table salt from Biova has a mild, well-balanced saltiness that blends unobtrusively into everyday cooking. Thanks to its naturally higher potassium content, the sodium chloride level is below 75%, making this reduced-sodium rock salt an interesting alternative to conventional table salt. Accompanying minerals such as iron give it its soft rosé colour and a rounded flavour profile – with no added anti-caking agents. In the kitchen, Spanish rock salt can be used just like any other table salt – for cooking, seasoning and finishing at the table. The fine grain size allows precise dosing, so you can reduce sodium intake in your daily Biova kitchen without losing a pleasant salty note.OriginThe salt comes from underground rock salt deposits in the Catalan hinterland of Spain, remnants of an ancient primordial sea. The dry Mediterranean climate and stable geology of the region favour particularly pure rock salt layers, which Biova sources directly.Cultivation / production / harvestSpanish rock salt is extracted by traditional mining and gently loosened from the salt deposit. It is then mechanically cleaned and milled to a fine grain of around 0.3–0.5 mm – ideal as loose bulk salt for shakers and everyday use, completely free from chemical additives.Special featuresA key characteristic is its naturally high potassium content, which results in a reduced sodium chloride content of under 75%. Minerals such as iron lend this pink rock salt its subtle colour and mild, rounded aroma; no lysine hydrochloride or anti-caking agents are added.Differences in origin and processingCompared with many Central European rock salts, this Catalan variety has a different mineral profile with a higher potassium share. Its formation in an ancient sea and its natural processing set it clearly apart from industrially refined table salt.Taste & aromaOn the palate, the salt is pleasantly salty with a mild, rounded note that integrates discreetly into a wide range of dishes. The gentle pink colour indicates the presence of minerals, while the aroma remains neutral, allowing versatile use in the Biova kitchen.Possible usesEveryday seasoning of soups, stews, sauces and vegetable dishes in home and professional kitchensAs table salt in shakers for finishing at the table or on buffetsFor salads, marinades and dressings where a finely dosed, reduced-sodium salt component is desiredProduct specificationCountry of origin: SpainGrain size: fine, approx. 0.3–0.5 mmColour: pink, light roséType of salt: rock salt, reduced sodium (NaCl < 75%)Form: loose bulk, approx. 1.05 kg per unit

Flor de Sal from the Ebro Delta, Spanish sea salt

These Flor de Sal crystals are skimmed off by hand, air-dried and packed unrefined in bags of around 1.05 kg.Special featuresTypical of this salt are its fine, flaky grain, bright white colour and natural mineral content. The combination of traditional hand harvesting, gentle processing and origin in a protected natural area makes this Biova sea salt a distinctive speciality.Differences in origin and processingUnlike industrially produced vacuum salt, this sea salt is created solely through the natural evaporation of seawater. Petalos Salzflocken | 0,1-8,0 mm
Petalos salt flakes from Spain, white rock salt flakes

Product descriptionPetalos salt flakes from Spain are delicate white rock salt flakes with a fine to flaky grain size of 0.1–8.0 mm. The light Biova crystals are ideal as a decorative finishing salt for professional kitchens and food service.Because they are produced from controlled rock salt brine in a closed system, the flakes retain their typical leaf-like structure and consistently high Biova quality. The bulk product is easy to handle, dose precisely and pack in many different formats. In everyday cooking as well as in fine dining, these mild salt flakes add a subtle crunch to meat, fish, vegetables, salads or fresh bread. Thanks to their structure you can crumble the flakes between your fingers and use them as a finger salt directly on the plate.OriginThe salt flakes come from a mountain region in the Spanish province of Alicante, around 40 km from the Mediterranean Sea. Here, the traditional La Fortuna saltworks uses a natural rock salt brine, while the sunny, dry climate supports even crystallisation.Cultivation / production / harvestThe rock salt brine is carefully fed into a closed system and concentrated mainly by sun and wind. The resulting salt petals are skimmed off by hand, selected, gently dried and packed as fine to flaky salt flakes in bulk.Special featuresThese white rock salt flakes are characterised by their irregular, leaf-like structure and a grain size of 0.1–8.0 mm. No additives are used, resulting in a natural Biova flake salt that enhances dishes visually and in texture and is ideal as a finger salt at the table.Differences in origin and processingUnlike sea salt flakes from open seawater saltworks, this flake salt is based on a controlled inland rock salt brine. The closed system reduces external influences and ensures consistent quality, while slow crystallisation and manual processing clearly distinguish the delicate flakes from industrially milled table salt.Taste & aromaPetalos salt flakes taste pleasantly mild and salty and are less sharp than finely ground table salt. Thanks to their airy structure, the flakes dissolve slowly on the tongue, remain neutral in aroma and allow the natural flavour of the food to take centre stage.Suggested usesAs a finishing salt to round off grilled meat, fish or vegetables just before serving. To refine salads, carpaccio, bruschetta, antipasti or freshly baked bread as a decorative white flake salt.As a premium table salt in bowls or grinders for food service, gourmet retail packing and home kitchens.Product specificationCountry of origin: SpainGrain size: 0.1–8.0 mm, fine to flakyColour: WhiteSalt type: Flake salt from rock salt brineProduct type: Food / seasoning, bulk productWeight per unit: approx. 1.05 kg bulk product

Thar Wüstensalz | Granulat | 0,1-5,0 mm
Thar desert salt granules 0.1–5.0 mm from Pakistan

Product descriptionThis Thar desert salt comes from natural salt lakes in the Thar Desert in Pakistan and is supplied as coarse granules of 0.1–5.0 mm. The cream-grey natural salt is formed from brine-rich spring and lake water that crystallises under intense sun. Thanks to the largely non-industrial region, the natural diversity of minerals is largely preserved. In Biova’s partner production, the desert salt is only washed, dried, granulated and packed – with no chemical additives or anti-caking agents. In the kitchen, the granules impress with a robust, clean and slightly bitter saltiness that is extremely versatile. Use Thar desert salt in a grinder, in a mortar or directly in cooking water for soups, vegetable, rice and meat dishes.OriginThe salt comes from the Thar Desert in the border region between Pakistan and India, not far from the Arabian Sea. The dry, sunny climate and the sparsely populated, industry-free landscape ensure natural purity and consistent Biova quality.Cultivation / production / harvestBrine-rich spring and lake water collects in shallow ponds and evaporates through sun and wind. This leaves salt layers that are gently harvested, cleaned, dried and sieved to a granule size of 0.1–5.0 mm before being filled by Biova as bulk units of approx. 1.05 kg.Special featuresAs a natural spring and lake salt, this desert salt has a cream-grey, slightly irregular appearance. It is not bleached, not blended with anti-caking agents and its coarse, granulated structure is ideal for grinders, dry spice blends and applications where the salt should dissolve slowly.Differences in origin and processingUnlike classic sea salts from coastal regions, this desert salt is formed inland from underground brine. They support the natural flavours of dishes, are neutral in smell and combine well with a wide range of other spices.Possible usesAs an all-purpose table salt in a grinder for kitchen, foodservice and table useFor seasoning soups, stews, vegetable, meat and fish dishesFor cooking water for pasta, potatoes, rice or for pickling and marinating vegetablesProduct specificationCountry of origin: PakistanGrain size: granules 0.1–5.0 mmColour: cream-grey, white

Once crystals have formed, experienced salt workers harvest the salt by hand with wooden rakes, dry it in the sun, gently granulate it and pack it as Biova bulk product with approx. 1.05 kg per unit.Special featuresSal Tradicional is processed without chemical refining, without bleaching agents and without anti-caking agents. The artisanal production preserves the natural mineral composition, results in a slightly irregular granule structure and combines traditional sea salt with modern, easy-to-dose kitchen use.Origin and processing differencesUnlike industrially produced vacuum salt, this Portuguese sea salt is made in small, artisan-run saltworks. The combination of Atlantic water, natural evaporation and consistent manual work shapes the authentic character of this Biova bulk product and sets it apart from heavily refined standard table salts.Taste & aromaOn the palate, the sea salt is mildly salty with a clear, clean salt note and no dominant bitterness. The fine minerals support balanced seasoning without masking other flavours, and the almost odourless salt blends discreetly into vegetable, meat, fish and plant-based dishes.Suggested usesAs an all-purpose cooking salt for soups, sauces, vegetable, rice and pasta dishes in everyday cookingFor finishing at the table in a salt mill for meat, fish, grilled and oven dishesFor spice blends, marinades, salt crusts and Mediterranean specialities in professional and home kitchensProduct specificationCountry of origin: PortugalGrain size: 0.1–5.0 mm, granulatedColour: White

We specialise in gourmet salts and natural salts, which means that we only offer you products in their natural and pure form. No refined and processed table salts, but only those found in nature. Because there is a lot to discover there! Have you already tried the fine fleur de sel? It doesn't have a granular structure, but is more like a snowflake with its flat, large appearance and fine architecture. As a result, it melts on the tongue and gives a finer salty flavour than conventional products. Fleur de Sel is particularly good as a finish on savoury dishes. Of course, we also offer well-chosen sea salts, for example from Africa, the Dead Sea or Italy. Our range also includes rock salts. These delicacies are truly ancient spices, as they were formed many millions of years ago when the seas evaporated and only the sea salt remained. The fact that a wide variety of sediments have been deposited on it over the years, allowing a wide range of accompanying minerals to mix in, means that it impresses with its dazzling colours - from pink to blue.

We guarantee you the highest quality of our natural salts, because we select our products according to very strict criteria and only include those that we are really convinced of. As we are a direct importer and not a wholesaler, you can rely on reasonable prices in addition to excellent quality. We supply the retail and wholesale trade, as well as the processing industry, and are delighted with the growing number of customers each year.

We also attach great importance to ecological and humane behaviour. We are aware that many of our salts do not come from the region, but from far away. That's why we try to do our bit by heating our warehouse with a photovoltaic system. We also endeavour to ensure fair working conditions, both for our domestic employees and for our suppliers worldwide. This makes gourmet salt taste even better.

Because not all salt is the same, we guarantee

  • that we only trade in selected and tested salts - in line with our standards
  • that we do not use child labour in the production and processing of the products in our range. This is how we contribute to the preservation of human rights around the world
  • that we pay the processors sufficient wages to counteract impoverishment and exploitation
  • that we have our salts tested again in Germany so that we can supply you with the best quality
