Product information "Organic Mediterranean sea salt | medio plus | 1-3 mm"
What is it about / Product description
This organic Mediterranean sea salt comes from traditional sea saltworks on the Croatian Adriatic coast. In the shallow lagoon of Nin, the natural sea salt crystallizes under sun and wind into evenly medium-coarse, white crystals with a mild, clear salty note. It is suitable as a universal table salt for everyday cooking.
Thanks to gentle, manual harvesting, the natural structure of the sea salt is preserved. Biova relies on ecological production without additives, anti-caking agents or refining. The granulated salt with a grain size of around 1–3 mm dissolves well and is of interest to both bulk processors and end consumers.
In Mediterranean cuisine, this organic Mediterranean sea salt refines vegetable dishes, pasta, fish and meat as well as salads and soups. The medium-coarse grain size makes it ideal for mills, for seasoning at the table or for pickling and marinating. This way, the typical taste of the Mediterranean can be used in a versatile and everyday way with Biova salt.
Origin
The sea salt comes from Croatia, specifically from the Nin sea saltworks on the Adriatic coast. There, sunny, dry summers and steady winds create ideal conditions for natural crystallization. Embedded between several nature parks, the salt is obtained in a sensitive coastal ecosystem.
Cultivation / Production / Harvest
Seawater is directed into shallow basins and evaporated exclusively by sun and wind. As soon as the crystals have formed, the sea salt is harvested purely by hand using traditional tools. It is then dried, sieved and granulated to a uniform, medium-coarse grain size of 1–3 mm.
Special features
Biova’s organic Mediterranean sea salt is natural, unrefined and free from additives. The medium-coarse structure ensures good dosing and a pleasant mouthfeel. Compared to highly refined table salt, the original character of the sea salt is preserved.
Differences in origin and processing
In contrast to industrially produced evaporated salt, this sea salt is created directly from seawater through natural evaporation. The Croatian coastal location with its shallow lagoon differs significantly from deep ocean saltworks or rock salt deposits. The consistent manual work in the Nin saltworks shapes the quality and appearance of the crystals.
Taste & aroma
Sensory-wise, the organic Mediterranean sea salt is mildly salty with a clear, clean salty note without intrusive bitter nuances. It has no dominant inherent smell and thus supports the natural taste of dishes instead of masking it.
