Banasura pepper | whole

Product information "Banasura pepper | whole"

Around the Banasura Sagar dam, the largest natural dam in India, the clocks slow down. Here in the Wayanad district in northeastern Kerala you have plenty of time. In the midst of a magnificent natural landscape and the best climatic conditions, a very special pepper is cultivated on the fertile soils. Even the pepper plants used are fundamentally different from the pepper plants of other regions, so they tower above a height of up to 12 meters significantly the usual plant height of about 3-4 meters. The pepper plant itself is a strain of the varieties Karimunda and Panniyur, which are considered to be of high quality. The harvest of Banasura pepper does not begin until the middle of March, when the berries are fully ripe, a few weeks after the actual pepper harvest. Thus, the Banasura pepper has enough time to mature and develop its extraordinary aroma. The pepper berries are unusually large and much more aromatic than other types of pepper. Hand-sorted and sun-dried, the Banasura pepper thanks the high effort with an intense taste experience. The total harvest is extremely low at about 2 tons and makes the Banasura pepper a coveted rarity.
