Product information "Danish smoked sea salt, coarse 1–3 mm"
Product description
This Danish smoked salt is a coarse sea salt granulate with a grain size of 1–3 mm, traditionally cold-smoked over beech wood. The brown crystals combine the natural purity of sea salt with a clean, Nordic-inspired smoky aroma.
Thanks to the long cold-smoking process at low temperatures, the salt structure is preserved while it evenly absorbs the beech smoke. Biova does not use any anti-caking agents or additives, so you receive a natural smoked salt with a coarse grain that is easy to dose.
In creative cooking, this smoked salt enhances vegan and vegetarian dishes just as well as classic grill and BBQ specialities. Whether as a finishing salt, in marinades or rubs – just a few grains are enough to create a distinctive smoky note.
Origin
The smoked salt is produced in Denmark, where smoking is an integral part of Nordic coastal cuisine. Small batches ensure consistently high quality and an authentic flavour.
Cultivation / production / harvest
Selected sea salt is used as the base and cold-smoked over beech wood in the smokehouse for around 160 hours, being turned regularly. The granulated grain size of 1–3 mm is ideal for foodservice, food manufacturing and grinders.
Characteristics
Typical for this Biova smoked salt are the long smoking time and the use of pure beech wood, which together create an intense yet well-balanced smoky aroma. The brown, coarse structure and the absence of additives make it a perfect fit for a natural seasoning concept.
Differences in origin and processing
Unlike smoked salts with added flavourings, this Danish smoked salt is produced exclusively by genuine beech wood smoke. Traditional cold-smoking preserves the crystal structure and results in a complex flavour profile.
Taste & aroma
On the nose, it offers an intense, clear smokiness reminiscent of freshly smoked foods. On the palate, a pronounced salty seasoning combines with a deep, savoury beech smoke aroma that can be precisely dosed thanks to the coarse grain size.
