Product information "Fleur de Sel from Greece, coarse 2–20 mm, 1 kg"
Product description
This Greek fleur de sel is a natural sea salt harvested from traditional salt pans on the Mediterranean coast. The coarse, irregular 2–20 mm crystals resemble tiny salt flowers and add a subtle Mediterranean touch to your dishes.
At Biova, the sea salt is carefully hand-harvested, air-dried and left unrefined. This preserves the original crystal structure, a slight residual moisture and the characteristic mineral content.
In creative cooking, fleur de sel is ideal as a finishing salt used just before serving. Whether on grilled vegetables, fish, meat or crusty bread, Biova sea salt enhances flavours without overpowering them.
Origin
This sea salt comes from sun-drenched salt gardens on the Greek Mediterranean coast. Clean seawater, plenty of sunshine and steady winds create ideal conditions for forming delicate salt flowers with consistent quality.
Cultivation / Production / Harvest
For Biova sea salt, seawater is channelled into shallow ponds and slowly concentrated. Once the characteristic crystals form on the surface, they are gently skimmed off by hand, air-dried and packed in a coarse 2–20 mm grain size.
Special features
Typical of this fleur de sel are the slightly moist, delicate crystals that melt pleasantly on the tongue. Traditional small-batch harvesting and the absence of refining make it an authentic natural product from Biova.
Differences in origin and processing
Sea salts vary by region in mineral content, crystal shape and moisture. Greek fleur de sel is known for its mild salinity and relatively large crystals, which make it particularly suitable as a finishing salt.
Taste & aroma
On the palate, this sea salt is soft, rounded and pleasantly salty, without harsh or bitter notes. The coarse crystals provide a gentle crunch, while a subtle hint of the sea and freshness defines its aroma.
