Origin

The underlying Pacific sea salt comes from the USA, while refinement into Biova decorative salt takes place in Italy. Sunny coastal locations and natural evaporation ensure a consistently high-quality black decorative granulate.

Production / refinement

Filtered seawater is evaporated in shallow ponds using solar energy, after which the salt crystals are harvested and dried. They are then refined with activated charcoal and minerals and sieved to the 1–2 mm granulate size.

Differences in origin and processing
