Origin

The underlying Pacific sea salt comes from the USA and is harvested from open evaporation ponds along the coast. The subsequent refinement into Biova decorative salt takes place in Italy, where the salt is processed into a uniformly black granulate.

Production / refinement

Filtered seawater is evaporated in shallow ponds using solar energy, then the salt crystals are harvested and dried. In Italy, the salt is refined with activated charcoal and minerals and precisely sieved to a granule size of 1–2 mm.
