Inca Sun Salt Granules 1–2 mm from Peru

Product information "Inca Sun Salt Granules 1–2 mm from Peru"

Product description

Inca Sun Salt is a natural spring and lake salt from the Peruvian Andes with a consistent grain size of 1–2 mm. Under intense sunlight, the mineral-rich water crystallises into a mild, slightly yellowish-white table salt that visually resembles coarse sea salt.

Thanks to pure sun drying and gentle, purely mechanical processing, the natural mineral content is largely preserved. The untreated salt is completely free from additives and is offered in proven Biova quality as a coarse-grain bulk product with approx. 1.05 kg per unit.

In the kitchen, Inca Sun Salt is highly versatile: it works just as well for everyday home-style cooking as for light, refined dishes. The 1–2 mm grain size is ideal for grinders, rubs and custom spice blends, and enhances the natural flavour of fish, vegetables, poultry and sauces.

Origin

This salt comes from the highlands of the Peruvian Andes near the historic Inca site of Machu Picchu. Here, a highly saline spring rises and its water is channelled through hundreds of terraced ponds, where the high-altitude climate provides ideal conditions for a natural sun-dried salt in Biova quality.

Cultivation / production / harvest

The spring water collects in shallow terraced salt pans, where it evaporates solely under the influence of the sun. Over several weeks, uniform crystals form in the 1–2 mm range; they are harvested by hand, gently dried, sieved and packed as granulated bulk salt.

Special features

Typical characteristics are its natural richness in minerals and the slightly yellowish hue caused by trace elements. Unlike refined table salt, this spring and lake salt is left completely untreated, contains no additives and is deliberately offered by Biova as a coarse, granulated salt for mills and large-volume applications.

Origin and processing differences

In contrast to classic sea salt, this sun salt does not come from the ocean but from a mountain spring at over 3,000 metres above sea level. Crystallisation relies exclusively on solar energy following traditional Inca methods, which shapes its fine structure and mild, well-balanced flavour profile.

Taste & aroma

On the palate, the salt offers a rounded, mild saltiness without harsh edges. It subtly lifts the aromas of dishes, is neutral in smell and pairs very well with herbs, spices and other gourmet salts.

Suggested uses

  • As an all-purpose cooking and table salt for everyday and home-style dishes
  • For seasoning fish, vegetables, poultry and light sauces
  • For salt mills, rubs and custom spice blends thanks to the 1–2 mm granules
