Product information "Organic anise | crushed | 1-2mm"
What is it about / Product description
Biova Organic Anise comes from certified organic cultivation in Turkey and is crushed to a coarse grain size of around 1–2 mm. The light to medium brown seed pieces develop a sweet-spicy, slightly liquorice-like aroma reminiscent of fennel and star anise.
Thanks to its granulated structure, the crushed anise combines the advantages of whole and ground seeds: it is intensely aromatic, less dusty and allows for precise dosing. The gentle processing at Biova preserves the essential oils and ensures stable aroma intensity.
In the kitchen, this anise spice is very versatile – from bread and fine pastries to desserts, tea blends and savoury dishes. The 1–2 mm grain size distributes evenly in doughs, marinades or infusions, making it ideal for gastronomy, manufacturers and ambitious home bakers.
Origin
The anise seeds come from Turkey, a traditional growing region with a sunny, dry climate. These conditions promote even ripening and a harmoniously sweet-spicy aroma of the fruits.
Cultivation / Production / Harvest
The anise is cultivated according to the guidelines of organic farming without synthetic pesticides. After harvesting, the fruits are gently dried, cleaned and then mechanically crushed to a grain size of around 1–2 mm.
Special features
As bulk goods in granulated / crushed / coarse grain size, this spice is particularly user-friendly and significantly less dusty than fine powder. The structure supports good aroma stability and can be further milled if required.
Differences in origin and processing
Anise from Turkey is known for its well-balanced sweet-liquorice profile and is often used for baked goods and teas. The gentle crushing without strong heating preserves the essential oils and distinguishes it from finely ground variants.
Taste & smell
In terms of taste, the organic anise is sweet, warm and clearly reminiscent of liquorice, fennel and mild herbal notes. The fragrance is intense and unfolds particularly when heated or poured over with hot water in baked goods, teas and liqueurs.
Possible applications
- For seasoning bread, biscuits, cakes and traditional Christmas pastries.
