Organic bay leaves, cut 0.5–8 mm, green, bulk

Product information "Organic bay leaves, cut 0.5–8 mm, green, bulk"

Product description

Organic bay leaves from Albania are a classic Mediterranean seasoning that adds warm, aromatic depth to soups, stews, stocks and sauces. The green, cut material with a particle size of approx. 0.5–8.0 mm is supplied as a coarse, granulated, crushed bulk product and can be distributed evenly throughout the dish.

Gentle drying and processing help preserve the essential oils and the characteristic bay flavour as much as possible. The defined particle size allows precise dosing, homogeneous incorporation into spice blends and a standardised quality level, as provided by Biova for professional users.

In the kitchen, organic bay leaves are extremely versatile – from braised dishes and broths through to convenience products and delicatessen salads. The cut, granulated format saves prep time, as there is no need to break down whole leaves and the bay seasoning can be added straight to the cook.

Origin

The bay leaves come from Albania, a traditional growing region with a Mediterranean climate. Sunny locations, mild winters and well-drained soils promote an intense essential aroma and an even green colour, which Biova secures consistently from batch to batch.

Cultivation / production / harvest

The bay shrubs are grown in line with organic standards and managed without synthetic crop protection agents. After harvesting, the leaves are gently dried, cleaned and coarsely cut or granulated to 0.5–8.0 mm, then packed as bulk goods in bags of approx. 1.05 kg.

Key features

The combination of organic quality, defined particle size and fresh green colour makes this seasoning particularly attractive for further processors, foodservice and large-scale kitchens. The coarse, granulated, crushed structure ensures even flavour distribution in spice blends, convenience products and delicatessen items – reliably in Biova quality.

Differences in origin and processing

Depending on the country of origin, bay leaves vary in intensity, leaf structure and shade of colour. Sunny regions such as Albania favour a stronger, spicier aroma, while drying time and cut size determine how quickly and clearly the bay flavour develops in the finished dish.

Taste & aroma

Bay is characterised by a warm, slightly bitter yet fresh herbal flavour that is typical of Mediterranean cuisine. The aroma is dominated by spicy, essential notes that develop slowly during cooking and, thanks to the cut, crushed structure, are evenly perceptible throughout the dish.
