Product information "Organic Birds Eye chilli flakes, extra hot"
Product description
Biova Organic Birds Eye chilli are bright red, coarsely crushed chilli flakes from Capsicum frutescens with a particle size of around 2–4 mm. They deliver a clean, intense heat of around 90,000–120,000 Scoville units to your kitchen.
Gentle drying and careful processing help preserve the colour, aroma and heat of the organic chillies as much as possible. Supplied in kilogram foodservice packs, Biova offers consistent, fully traceable quality for restaurants, producers and demanding home cooks.
The coarse, granular structure ensures even distribution in the dish and makes it easier to dose this very hot chilli. This lets you use Organic Birds Eye chilli flexibly in curries, stews, sauces, marinades and your own spice blends.
Origin
The chillies come mainly from India and Uganda, regions with a warm climate, intense sunlight and fertile soils. These conditions promote a pronounced aroma and strong heat in the 90,000–120,000 Scoville range.
Cultivation / processing / harvest
Capsicum frutescens plants are grown outdoors under certified organic conditions. Fully ripe red pods are harvested, gently dried and then coarsely crushed to obtain a granular particle size of around 2–4 mm.
Characteristics
With its very high heat level, this chilli falls into the intense heat ranges of 20,001–100,000 up to 100,001–500,000. Its vivid red colour and coarse texture make it ideal for spice blends, rubs and visual garnish, while Biova ensures consistently high organic bulk quality.
Differences in origin and processing
Chillies from Uganda provide a clear, direct heat, while those from India often contribute a slightly fruity note. Thanks to uniform granular processing, Biova combines both origins into one consistent product with reliably reproducible heat.
Taste & aroma
In flavour, the flakes are reminiscent of classic Thai chillies: direct, intense and without dominant smoky notes. On the nose they show a warm, slightly fruity chilli aroma with a clear, spicy pungency that builds quickly and lingers.
Suggested uses
- To add heat to curries, wok dishes and other Asian-inspired recipes
- For fiery stews, soups, chilli con carne and braised dishes
- As an ingredient in marinades, dry rubs, BBQ and hot sauces, and spice mixes
