Organic cracked anise 1–2 mm from Turkey

Product information "Organic cracked anise 1–2 mm from Turkey"

Product description

Biova organic anise comes from certified organic farming in Turkey and is cracked to a coarse particle size of around 1–2 mm. The light to medium brown seed pieces release a sweet, spicy, slightly liquorice-like aroma reminiscent of fennel and star anise.

Thanks to its granulated structure, cracked anise combines the advantages of whole and ground seeds: it is intensely aromatic, creates less dust and can be dosed precisely. Gentle processing at Biova preserves the essential oils and ensures stable flavour intensity.

In the kitchen this anise spice is highly versatile – from bread and fine pastries to desserts, tea blends and savoury dishes. The 1–2 mm granulation distributes evenly in doughs, marinades or infusions, making it ideal for foodservice, artisan producers and dedicated home bakers.

Origin

The anise seeds come from Turkey, a traditional growing region with a sunny, dry climate. These conditions promote even ripening and a harmoniously sweet, spicy aroma in the fruits.

Cultivation / processing / harvest

The organic anise is grown in accordance with organic farming standards, without synthetic pesticides. After harvesting, the fruits are gently dried, cleaned and then mechanically cracked to a granulation of around 1–2 mm.

Key features

Supplied in bulk with a granulated / cracked / coarse cut, this Biova spice is particularly user-friendly and significantly less dusty than fine powder. The structure supports good flavour stability and can be milled finer if required.

Origin and processing differences

Anise from Turkey is known for its well-balanced sweet, liquorice-like profile and is often used for baked goods and teas. Gentle size reduction without significant heating preserves the essential oils and sets it apart from finely ground versions.

Taste & aroma

In taste, the organic anise is sweet, warm and clearly reminiscent of liquorice, fennel and mild herbal notes. The aroma is intense and unfolds particularly well when heated or infused with hot water in baked goods, teas and liqueurs.

Suggested uses

  • Seasoning for bread, biscuits, cakes and traditional Christmas baking.
  • For aromatic tea blends, hot drinks and spice infusions with anise notes.
  • As a component in spice blends for curries, stews and Middle Eastern or Mediterranean-style dishes.
