Product information "Organic green cardamom pods Naturland, whole 1.05 kg"
Product description
Biova Naturland organic cardamom consists of whole green pods with a warm, spicy and slightly sweet aroma. The carefully dried fruits protect the delicate seeds and preserve the typical cardamom flavour profile.
Controlled organic cultivation in line with Naturland standards and gentle processing help retain a high proportion of essential oils. You receive a pure, tested organic spice from Biova with no unnecessary additives, suitable for professional and home kitchens alike.
Whole cardamom pods are ideal for flavouring hot drinks, sweet pastries and aromatic rice or curry dishes. Depending on the recipe, use the pods whole or crush the seeds just before use for precisely dosed cardamom flavour.
Origin
Cardamom comes from tropical regions of South and Southeast Asia with high humidity and consistently warm temperatures. The plants prefer partial shade and humus-rich soils, which support a balanced, multi-layered aroma in the pods.
Cultivation / production / harvest
The cardamom plants are grown organically without synthetic pesticides. The ripe pods are harvested by hand, gently dried, graded and then packed as whole pods in convenient 1.05 kg bags.
Special features
Unlike ground cardamom, whole pods protect the essential oils for significantly longer. Naturland certification stands for high ecological and social standards along the entire value chain.
Differences in origin and processing
Depending on the growing region, cardamom can show nuances ranging from lemony-fresh to warm and resinous. Drying, storage and Biova’s careful selection of batches have a decisive influence on the intensity and finesse of the aroma.
Taste & aroma
Whole cardamom pods have an intense, warm and slightly sweet fragrance with notes of citrus, eucalyptus and fine resins. On the palate they are aromatic, spicy and pleasantly fresh, particularly harmonious in combination with milk, sugar and creamy components.
