Product information "Organic green peppercorns whole, Sri Lanka"
Product description
These whole organic green peppercorns come from the highlands of Sri Lanka and stand out with a fresh, slightly grassy aroma. The unripe pepper berries are gently dried so their natural colour and characteristic pepper fragrance are preserved.
Thanks to certified organic cultivation and careful processing, Biova organic green pepper offers a mild heat that is easy to dose. The bulk product is hand-selected and checked for consistent aroma intensity and clean, intact corns.
In the kitchen, the whole green peppercorns can be freshly ground in a mill or mortar. This lets you season light sauces, meat, fish and vegetable dishes or creative recipes without overpowering other flavours.
Origin
The pepper vines grow in Sri Lanka’s central highlands under tropical conditions with high humidity and fertile soils. Small family farms cultivate the organic pepper in partial shade, supporting slow, aroma-rich growth and consistent Biova quality.
Cultivation / production / harvest
The pepper comes from certified organic farming without synthetic pesticides or artificial fertilisers. The still-green berries are harvested by hand and then gently dehydrated straight away to prevent fermentation and to retain the colour, structure and aroma of the whole corns.
Special features
Unlike pickled green pepper, this version is supplied as a dry bulk product. Its natural flavour remains unadulterated and can be freshly ground as needed; the combination of organic quality, careful drying and selection makes Biova green pepper an aromatic alternative to black pepper.
Differences in origin and processing
Green pepper from Sri Lanka develops a particularly fresh, slightly fruity profile that differs from the more intense qualities of other growing regions. Direct dehydration after harvest prevents it from turning into black pepper and results in a spice with milder heat, ideal for light, delicate dishes.
Taste & aroma
On the palate, this organic green pepper offers a herbal, grassy aroma with subtle fruity notes. The heat is moderate and pleasant, while a clear peppery scent seasons dishes without dominating them.
Suggested uses
- Freshly ground for light sauces, cream and pepper sauces served with beef, veal, poultry or pork.
- As an aromatic seasoning for fish, seafood and refined vegetable dishes in modern cuisine.
- To finish fruity desserts with strawberries, pineapple or mango with a gentle hint of heat.
