Product information "Organic Lemon Myrtle, cut 2–4 mm, Australia"
Product description
Biova Organic Lemon Myrtle is an aromatic organic citrus herb from Australia, supplied as a green leaf granulate with a particle size of around 2–4 mm. The cut lemon myrtle leaves deliver a clean, intensely lemony aroma with subtle eucalyptus notes.
Gentle drying and careful processing ensure consistently high quality and a pronounced concentration of aroma in this Biova herb granulate. The coarse, granulated and crushed structure remains visible in spice blends, is easy to dose and is ideal in bulk format for professional users.
In the kitchen, organic lemon myrtle is extremely versatile, from fish and poultry to vegetables, desserts and drinks. Thanks to its strong seasoning power, only a small amount is needed, making this citrus herb perfect for seasoning salts, dressings and bespoke citrus blends within the Biova range.
Origin
The lemon myrtle comes from Australia, where this evergreen shrub grows close to subtropical rainforests. Warm temperatures, regular rainfall and well-drained, sandy-stony soils promote a high content of essential oils and thus an intense lemon aroma.
Cultivation / processing / harvest
The plants are organically grown under controlled conditions in selected regions and harvested at optimum maturity. After harvesting, the leaves are gently dried before being cut to a coarse size of approx. 2–4 mm and packed as bulk in pouches of around 1.05 kg.
Key features
Its hallmark is the combination of an intense lemon fragrance with delicate balsamic notes reminiscent of eucalyptus and camphor. The coarse structure of the green leaf granulate allows for even incorporation into seasoning salts, marinades and dry mixes and offers an attractive balance of quantity and quality for foodservice, artisan producers and resellers.
Origin and processing differences
Australian lemon myrtle is considered the benchmark, as it grows in the shrub’s natural range and benefits from ideal climatic conditions. Compared with other citrus herbs such as lemongrass or lemon verbena, its flavour is clearer and more intense, while the coarse 2–4 mm cut allows controlled release of aroma and a visible herb structure in the final application.
Taste & aroma
On the nose, it shows a very fresh, dominant lemon bouquet reminiscent of lemon peel. On the palate, lemon myrtle offers an intense yet harmonious citrus note without the typical bitterness of many citrus peels, so even small amounts give dishes and drinks a pronounced aroma.
