Product information "Organic Mediterranean Sea Salt from Croatia, medium grain"
Product description
Biova Organic Mediterranean Sea Salt is harvested from the clean seawater of the Croatian Adriatic and gently processed into a white table salt. The medium, granulated grain size of around 1.0–1.6 mm makes this sea salt highly versatile for use in both professional kitchens and food production.
Traditional harvesting in small saltworks results in a natural sea salt without chemical additives, bleaching agents or anti-caking agents. With certified organic quality, Biova offers a reliable all-purpose salt with a consistent structure for everyday use.
In the kitchen, this Mediterranean sea salt is ideal for cooking, finishing and creating your own spice blends. The medium grain dissolves well in liquids and flows smoothly in mills and shakers, allowing you to season everything from vegetables and pasta to fish, meat and salads with precision.
Origin
This organic Mediterranean sea salt comes from Croatia, from a shallow lagoon on the unspoiled Adriatic coast. Plenty of sunshine, steady winds and a protected location far from industry ensure stable conditions and consistently high salt quality.
Cultivation / production / harvest
At Biova’s partner saltworks, seawater is channelled into shallow ponds and concentrated solely by sun and wind. After natural crystallisation, the salt is harvested by hand, gently dried and sieved to a medium grain size of 1.0–1.6 mm, without vacuum evaporation or additives.
Special features
Its defining feature is the medium, granulated structure, suitable both for bulk supply and for use in spice mills. As a white Mediterranean sea salt in organic quality, it is a staple ingredient in the Biova range and fits perfectly with a pure, natural approach to seasoning.
Differences in origin and processing
Unlike industrial vacuum-evaporated refined salts, this sea salt is obtained exclusively through natural evaporation. Its origin in the Croatian Adriatic results in a different mineral profile compared to Atlantic or Pacific sea salts, while manual harvesting in small saltworks makes extensive refining unnecessary.
Taste & aroma
On the palate, the salt is clear, clean and mildly salty, without unpleasant bitter notes. It has no dominant intrinsic aroma and lets the natural flavour of your ingredients shine, making it a neutral all-purpose salt for both delicate and robust dishes.

- As an all-purpose salt for cooking pasta, vegetables, soups and stews
- For finishing at the table in salt shakers or mills
