Organic Mediterranean Sea Salt | medio | 1,0-1,6 mm

Product information "Organic Mediterranean Sea Salt | medio | 1,0-1,6 mm"

What is it about / Product description

This organic Mediterranean sea salt comes from traditional saltworks on the Croatian Adriatic coast and is gently obtained from clean seawater. The medium grain size of around 1.0–1.6 mm makes the white, crystalline salt versatile for use in home and professional kitchens. As a natural sea salt, it blends harmoniously into a conscious, purist seasoning culture.

Thanks to the artisanal production in the saltworks, an unadulterated natural product is created that requires no additives. Sun, wind and manual labor shape the production process and ensure an even, easy-to-dose granulation. Combined with Biova’s certified organic quality, you receive a high‑grade sea salt for everyday use.

In the kitchen, this Mediterranean sea salt is ideal for cooking, seasoning at the table and for your own spice blends. The medium grain dissolves well in liquids yet remains pleasantly free‑flowing in mills and salt shakers. This allows you to use Organic Mediterranean Sea Salt flexibly for vegetables, pasta, fish, meat and salads.

Origin

The sea salt comes from Croatia, from a shallow lagoon on the Adriatic coast, far away from industry and urban areas. The interplay of clean seawater, plenty of sunshine and a steady breeze creates ideal conditions for salt production. The saltworks is part of a near‑natural coastal landscape whose preservation is supported by gentle use.

Cultivation / Production / Harvest

In Biova’s partner saltworks, seawater is directed into shallow basins and concentrated exclusively by sun and wind. After crystallization, the salt is harvested by hand, dried and then sieved to the desired medium grain size of 1.0–1.6 mm. No chemical additives, bleaching agents or anti‑caking agents are used.

Special features

Characteristic is the medium‑coarse, granulated structure, which is suitable both for bulk goods and for use in spice mills. As a white sea salt from the Mediterranean region, it impresses with its mild saltiness and universal usability. The combination of organic quality and traditional craftsmanship makes it a reliable basic ingredient.

Differences in origin and processing

Compared to industrial vacuum‑evaporated table salts, this sea salt is obtained exclusively through natural evaporation. Its origin from the Croatian Adriatic gives it a different mineral profile than Atlantic or Pacific sea salts. Manual harvesting in small saltworks differs significantly from large‑scale industrial processes.

Taste & aroma

Sensory‑wise, the salt presents itself as clear, clean and mildly salty without intrusive bitter notes. It has no dominant inherent smell and allows the natural flavor of the ingredients to take center stage. This makes it particularly suitable as a neutral all‑purpose salt for delicate and robust dishes alike.

Possible uses

  • As an all‑purpose salt for cooking pasta, vegetables, soups and stews
  • For seasoning at the table in salt shakers or mills
  • As a base for your own herb and spice salt blends in home or professional kitchens
