Product information "Organic whole cloves, approx. 1.4 cm"
Product description
Biova organic cloves come from certified organic farming in Sri Lanka and are supplied as whole spice cloves, around 1.4 cm in size. The dried brown flower buds develop an intensely warm, spicy aroma ideal for professional kitchens and foodservice.
Careful selection of raw materials and gentle drying ensure consistently high-quality bulk product in kilogram packs. Whole organic cloves retain their essential oils for longer, so their flavour is released slowly during cooking and can be dosed precisely.
In use, these cloves shine in both sweet and savoury recipes, from braised dishes to hot drinks. After cooking, the whole cloves are easy to remove, making them particularly practical for high-volume users, catering and long-term storage.
Origin
These cloves come mainly from Sri Lanka, a traditional growing region with a tropical climate and fertile soils. These conditions promote slow ripening of the flower buds and support Biova’s consistently high quality.
Cultivation / processing / harvest
The clove trees are grown in line with organic standards, without synthetic crop protection agents. The closed flower buds are harvested by hand and then gently dried in the sun or air until they are hard, brown and shelf-stable.
Features
These are brown, whole cloves in the “whole / broken” grade, ideal for operations with higher spice usage. Biova bulk packs allow economical use, support accurate dosing and make it easy to remove the cloves after cooking.
Differences in origin and processing
Cloves from Sri Lanka are characterised by an intensely spicy aroma with a fine sweetness, which can differ from other origins. Gentle drying and careful grading reduce breakage, preserve the typical brown colour and ensure a high content of essential oils.
Taste & aroma
Whole cloves offer a robust, warm, spicy flavour with a subtle sweetness. Their aroma is intense and ethereal, reminiscent of Christmas baking, mulled wine, punch and winter dishes; just a few cloves are enough to give food and drinks a pronounced flavour.

- For simmering in braises, stews, stocks and sauces for meat and vegetable dishes
