Product information "Organic whole pink pepper berries (Schinus), bulk"
Product description
Biova organic pink pepper berries are whole, dried Schinus berries from certified organic cultivation with a bright pink colour. These delicate fruits are not true pepper but are widely used in the kitchen as pink pepper or pink peppercorns.
Thanks to their organic quality and gentle drying, they develop a clean, sweet-fruity aroma with mild heat. Supplied whole in bulk, the berries are ideal for foodservice, artisan producers and for creating your own spice and pepper blends with Biova.
In the kitchen, Biova organic pink pepper berries enhance savoury and sweet dishes alike and add decorative splashes of colour. Use the whole berries for grinder blends, marinated dishes, sauces or desserts to integrate their fruity pepper character precisely into your recipes.
Origin
The Schinus berries come mainly from Brazil and Madagascar, where the warm climate and abundant sunshine provide ideal growing conditions. Carefully selected growing areas ensure a harmonious flavour and an even pink colour.
Cultivation / production / harvest
The berries grow on evergreen trees and shrubs and are harvested by hand in dense clusters. They are then gently dried, thoroughly cleaned and prepared as whole berries for larger bulk packs.
Special features
Pink pepper berries are botanically part of the sumac family rather than true pepper, but are similar in shape and culinary use. Their whole grain size and intense pink colour make them particularly attractive for decorative applications and colourful Biova pepper blends.
Differences in origin and processing
Berries from Brazil offer a well-balanced combination of sweetness, fruitiness and mild heat, while berries from Madagascar are often slightly more aromatic on the nose. Processing them as whole berries reduces breakage and dust and preserves structure, colour and essential oils.
Taste & aroma
On the palate, pink pepper berries impress with a sweet, fruity note and gentle peppery heat. Their aroma is reminiscent of red pepper, ripe berries and fine resin nuances, adding an aromatic, slightly floral component to robust pepper varieties.
Suggested uses
- As a decorative, aromatic component for poultry, meat and game dishes
