Product information "Organic whole star anise, whole fruit stars from China"
Product description
Biova organic star anise consists of whole brown fruit stars from certified organic cultivation in China. These decorative spice stars are supplied in bulk and gently dried so their sweet, spicy aroma with notes of anise and liquorice is preserved.
Because the fruits are left whole, the essential oils remain protected inside and the aroma stays stable for longer. Biova focuses on natural quality without additives, careful cleaning and even grading of the pieces, ensuring reliable dosing in both professional and home kitchens.
In the kitchen, organic star anise is ideal for mulled wine, tea, braised dishes and Christmas baking. The whole stars can be simmered in liquids and removed before serving, or freshly crushed in a mortar to adjust the intensity of the spice precisely to your recipe.
Origin
The star anise fruits come from China, a traditional growing region with a warm, subtropical climate and high humidity. These conditions support even growth of the evergreen trees and strong flavour development. Biova sources only raw material from certified organic farming.
Cultivation / production / harvest
The fruit stars are harvested once they have developed their typical brown colour and firm structure. They are then gently dried until hard, whole pieces are obtained. After cleaning and grading, the organic star anise is packed as a single-variety bulk product in units of around 1.05 kg.
Key features
Typical are the star-shaped fruits with a high content of aromatic oils. In whole form, the aroma keeps significantly longer than with ground star anise and can be released fresh as needed. Biova values a clean appearance, evenly sized pieces and a robust quality that stores well.
Differences in origin and processing
Depending on the region of origin, the intensity and fine flavour nuances of star anise can vary. Chinese grades are known for a balanced, sweet-spicy profile without dominant heat. Slow, controlled drying supports the even brown colour and a harmonious taste.
Taste & aroma
On the nose, this star anise shows an intense, sweet and spicy bouquet with clear anise and liquorice notes. On the palate it is warm, full-bodied and slightly sweet without being hot. Whole fruit stars release their flavour slowly into liquids and dishes, allowing finely tuned seasoning.
