Product information "Organic whole Timut pepper from Nepal, red husks"
Product description
Organic Timut pepper from Nepal is the aromatic Himalayan cousin of Sichuan pepper, offered here as whole, red fruit husks. This citrus pepper combines fresh lemon and grapefruit notes with a pleasantly tingling heat.
In Biova organic quality, the citrus pepper is gently dried and hand-selected so that the essential oils and the typical tongue-tingling sensation are largely preserved. The whole-grade bulk format is ideal for spice blenders, professional kitchens and demanding home cooks.
Use organic Timut pepper to season Asian dishes, stir-fries, fish, poultry, vegetables and creative desserts, as well as your own pepper blends. This Himalayan spice from Biova brings fresh, contemporary accents to your kitchen.
Origin
The red fruit husks come from the high altitudes of Nepal in the Himalayas. Cool nights, clear air and slow growth promote an especially concentrated citrus aroma in Biova’s raw material.
Cultivation / processing / harvest
The shrubs grow mainly wild on slopes and at forest edges. Once fully ripe in autumn, the husks are harvested by hand, sun-dried and packed as whole pieces in bulk units of around 1.05 kg.
Key features
Typical are the medium heat, tingling effect and slight numbing on lips and tongue, just like Sichuan pepper. The aroma sits primarily in the husk wall, which in organic quality and whole grade is particularly interesting for professional users.
Origin and processing differences
Compared to Chinese Sichuan pepper, the Nepalese variety shows more pronounced grapefruit and citrus notes. Manual harvesting and drying in the clear mountain air of the Himalayas preserve the fresh, complex aroma profile that Biova specifically focuses on.
Taste & aroma
On the nose, grapefruit, lime and delicate floral nuances dominate. On the palate, it reveals a pleasant, medium heat with the typical tingling and slight numbness, harmoniously combining citrus freshness with peppery warmth.
