Product information "Premium smoked salt from Danish sea salt, 1–3 mm granules"
Product description
This premium smoked salt from Biova is made from selected Danish sea salt and gently cold-smoked over beech wood. The caramel-brown granules with a grain size of 1–3 mm distribute evenly and allow for precise dosing.
Thanks to the slow cold-smoking process, the sea salt absorbs an intense, wood-forward smoky aroma without losing its crystalline structure. The seasoned salt contains no artificial flavours or additives and, supplied in bulk, is ideal for foodservice, artisan producers and further processing.
In the kitchen, this smoked salt adds a distinctive BBQ note to egg dishes, fried potatoes, steaks, fish, vegetables or tofu. It enhances everyday meals as well as creative grilling and smoking recipes with Biova’s authentic smoky flavour.
Origin
The sea salt comes from Denmark, where it is harvested and processed under controlled conditions. The Nordic climate and long tradition of salt production ensure consistently high quality, which Biova specifically selects for this smoked salt.
Cultivation / Production / Harvest
After harvesting, the sea salt is dried and adjusted to a granulated grain size of around 1–3 mm. It is then cold-smoked for several hours over beech wood at low temperatures, creating an even, easy-to-dose smoky aroma.
Features
Key characteristics are the caramel-brown colour, the granulated / crushed / coarse texture and the intense yet not overpowering smoky aroma. Biova completely avoids artificial smoke flavourings, resulting in a natural smoked salt for spice blends, rubs, BBQ sauces and direct use at the table.
Differences in origin and processing
Compared with smoked salts from other regions, the Danish variety offers a particularly clean, wood-accented flavour profile. Gentle cold-smoking over beech wood ensures a well-balanced interplay between smokiness and salt intensity, making the granules reliable in both sensory and technical applications.
Taste & aroma
The smoked salt has a pronounced beech wood smoke aroma, reminiscent of freshly grilled or smoked foods. On the palate it is robust, savoury and very flavoursome without bitterness, rounding off simple and sophisticated dishes alike with a lingering, harmonious smokiness.

- Seasoning egg dishes, fried potatoes, steaks, fish and grilled vegetables.
