Spring Water Salt Granules, hand-harvested, 0.1–5.0 mm

Product information "Spring Water Salt Granules, hand-harvested, 0.1–5.0 mm"

Product description

Discover Portuguese spring water salt – an unrefined, natural ancient salt sourced from underground brine springs. The white granules with a grain size of 0.1–5.0 mm are a versatile kitchen salt for home use, foodservice and food production.

Thanks to traditional hand-harvesting in artisan salt pans and gentle drying, this Biova spring water / sea salt offers consistently pure quality with no additives. The fine-to-coarse grain size makes it highly flexible, ideal for salt mills, grinding in a mortar or as a base for spice blends.

In the kitchen, this spring water salt is suitable for everyday seasoning as well as for marinades, brines and flavoured salts. Supplied in bulk, it is particularly suitable for professional users such as small producers, delicatessens and the catering trade.

Origin

This salt comes from Portugal, from traditional saltworks in the Marinhas do Sal region near Aveiro and from Rio Maior. The mild Atlantic climate with plenty of sun and wind creates ideal conditions for Biova’s natural spring water and sea salts.

Cultivation / production / harvest

The brine originates from an ancient underground salt deposit and reaches the surface through subterranean watercourses. In shallow ponds, sun and wind evaporate the water until salt crystals form. These are harvested by hand, dried and sieved to obtain granules from 0.1–5.0 mm.

Special features

Unlike refined table salt, this spring water / sea salt remains largely unprocessed and free from additives. Hand selection in small-scale operations ensures transparent origin and delivers a characterful, white ancient salt supplied in bulk by Biova.

Differences in origin and processing

While many sea salts are produced industrially in large-scale facilities, this Portuguese spring water salt is obtained from smaller salt pans. Manual harvesting, hand removal of foreign particles and re-sieving clearly distinguish it from standardised mass-market products.

Taste & aroma

Spring water salt offers a clean, pure saltiness without intrusive off-flavours. On the palate it tastes mild and well-rounded, with a subtle, sea-like note that allows the natural flavours of the food to stay in focus.
