Product information "Trinidad Scorpion |crushed | 2-5 mm | red | Scoville Units: 650.000-700.000"

What is it about / Product description

This Trinidad Scorpion is one of the world’s extremely hot chilies and is offered by Biova as a coarsely crushed, bright red chili from Ecuador. The 2–5 mm flakes add intense color and a fruity, spicy aroma to professional and ambitious kitchens. With a heat level of around 600,000–900,000 Scoville, this high-heat spice is aimed at experienced users.

At Biova, this Capsicum chinense chili is carefully selected, gently dried and then processed as granulated bulk goods. The coarse grain size reduces dust formation and allows very precise dosing, so that heat and flavor can be used in a controlled way. Consistent quality, single-variety processing and defined heat levels above 500,001 Scoville make this product ideal for gastronomy, manufacturers and further processors.

In use, crushed Trinidad Scorpion is excellent for refining sauces, stews, curries or BBQ rubs with an extremely fiery note. Even the smallest amounts are enough to significantly increase the heat of dishes and create an intense, fruity chili character. Use this chili spice with care, wear gloves when filling if possible and keep it out of the reach of children.

Origin

The coarsely crushed chili comes from Ecuador, where warm, partly humid-tropical conditions provide optimal conditions for Capsicum chinense. Altitudes, intense sunlight and nutrient-rich soils promote pronounced aroma development and a rich red color. Biova works with selected partner companies to ensure consistent quality of the bulk goods.

Cultivation / Production / Harvest

The chili plants are cultivated in specialized farms and harvested at full ripeness, when the pods have reached their deep red color and maximum heat. After harvesting, they are gently dried to preserve aroma, color and heat. The pods are then coarsely crushed to 2–5 mm and filled as granulated bulk goods for gastronomy, manufacturers and resellers.

Special features

Characteristic are the extremely high heat of 600,000–900,000 Scoville in combination with fruity, slightly tropical notes. The coarse, granulated structure makes processing in hot spice blends, rubs and pastes easier and reduces dust formation. Biova pays attention to single-variety, clean processing so that color, smell and heat level remain as constant as possible.

Differences in origin and processing

Depending on the country of origin, Trinidad Scorpion chilies can vary in heat, fruitiness and color depth. Ecuadorian cultivation is considered well-balanced in terms of fruit aroma and high heat and is particularly suitable for professional applications. Through controlled drying and defined crushing at Biova, these sensory properties are kept stable and made reproducible for commercial use.

Taste & smell

On the nose there are intense, fruity chili notes with hints of tropical fruits. On the palate, the chili first appears aromatic and fruity before a very rapidly setting and long-lasting burning heat builds up. With careful dosing, the basic aroma remains clearly perceptible, which makes this chili particularly suitable for characterful, strongly seasoned dishes.
