Uyuni desert salt | granulate | 1-5 mm

Product information "Uyuni desert salt | granulate | 1-5 mm"

What it is / Product description

Discover Uyuni desert salt from Bolivia’s Salar de Uyuni, one of the largest salt lakes on earth. This natural table salt appears brilliantly white and comes as evenly sieved granules of 1–5 mm.

The desert salt offered by Biova is carefully harvested by hand, dried and processed without additives. The coarse, granulated structure dissolves well and allows precise dosing when cooking.

In the kitchen, this spring water and lake salt can be used in many ways – from soups and sauces to pasta and vegetables, as well as meat and fish dishes. Thanks to its granulated grain size, it is also ideal for mills or for seasoning directly at the table.

Origin

Uyuni desert salt comes from the Salar de Uyuni in the southwest of Bolivia at an altitude of around 3,700 meters. The highland climate with intense sunlight and large temperature differences shapes the formation of this spring water and lake salt.

Cultivation / Production / Harvest

Biova Uyuni desert salt is obtained directly from the salt crust of the salt desert. The top layer is loosened by hand, collected and gently dried before the salt is merely sieved and brought to the granulated grain size of 1–5 mm.

Special features

This desert salt is characterized by its light white color and its uniform, coarse structure. As a natural spring water and lake salt, it remains unrefined and is produced without anti-caking agents, resulting in a purist kitchen salt in Biova bulk quality.

Differences in origin and processing

In contrast to sea salt from coastal regions, Uyuni desert salt is formed in a high-altitude inland salt desert. The predominantly manual extraction and gentle processing preserve the original structure and appearance of this coarse-grained Biova salt.

Taste & aroma

Uyuni desert salt has a clear, pure salty taste without intrusive off-flavors. It feels mild and well-balanced on the palate, allowing the natural aromas of the food to take center stage, and is neutral in smell.
