Product information "Whole cassia cinnamon blossoms 3–6 mm"
Product description
Discover cinnamon blossoms – whole, dried buds of the cassia cinnamon tree from China. These brown blossoms, around 3–6 mm in size, look a little like small cloves and release a warm, sweet cinnamon aroma.
Thanks to gentle drying and careful grading, Biova offers a uniform size that allows precise dosing. The natural cinnamon buds are free from additives and provide a pure, aroma-stable spice for creative cooking.
Whole cinnamon blossoms are very versatile in both sweet and savoury recipes, for example in baked goods, desserts, hot drinks or braised dishes. They can be cooked whole and removed afterwards, or crushed in a mortar as needed to release their delicate blossom aroma exactly where you want it.
Origin
These cinnamon blossoms come from selected growing regions in China, where the warm, humid climate encourages an intense yet well-balanced cassia flavour to develop. Biova focuses on reliable origin and consistent quality of the brown buds.
Cultivation / production / harvest
The cinnamon buds are harvested shortly before they open, when the content of essential oils is particularly well balanced. They are then gently air-dried and sorted by size to ensure a grain size of around 3–6 mm.
Characteristics
Compared to ground cinnamon, whole cinnamon blossoms offer a milder, more delicate flavour and stay aromatic for longer. Visually they resemble cloves, but the taste is clearly different. Biova places great importance on an even brown colour, clean buds and a size that is easy to dose.
Differences in origin and processing
Depending on the region in China, cassia cinnamon buds can vary slightly in intensity and oil content. Crucial factors are careful harvesting at the optimum stage of ripeness and gentle drying, which preserve the typical aroma and make them easy to use in spice blends.
Taste & aroma
Cinnamon blossoms have a warm, cinnamon-like, subtly sweet fragrance without being overpowering. On the palate they show a fine spiciness with the typical cassia note, milder than classic cinnamon, making them suitable for both sweet and savoury dishes.
